Welcome

Welcome to my inner sanctum. I am, as my cousin LuAnn so nicely put it, a "born again, founding fathers, conservative." I am opinionated and you are apt to find anything on this page.

I would like to hear from you: hendroni@earthlink.net

A world upside down

I think our world has turned upside down!  All the things that we were warned about and that have been banned seem to be “not so dangerous,” and all the things that were supposed to be good for us are killing us.

By all accounts, I shouldn’t be here.  If all the hullabaloo about Lead and Lead Paint, Mercury, Asbestos, DDT, and Carbon Tetrachloride are correct, I shouldn’t have survived past the age of 25!

I remember in the fourth of fifth grade when one of my teachers passed a container of Mercury around the room so we could dip our fingers in it to experience its strange properties.  As a young boy I worked with my plumber father and very often handled Lead and “friable” Asbestos (the worst kind) to join pieces of cast iron pipe.  Later, when I worked with electronic circuit boards, the standard cleaning material was Carbon Tetrachloride because it evaporated quickly and left no residue.  Also, DDT was a common household pesticide and we did everything but take baths in it!

On the other side of the coin, the very things that we were encourage to eat like vegetables and chicken seem to be causing a national epidemic of obesity.  What happened?

Consider this.  The banning of the bad things has created a windfall for lawyers.  Lawyers have been suing the corporations that made those products for the past 30 years, and have driven many large American manufacturers out of business.  Who remembers Johns/Mansville?  They were the largest producer of Asbestos in the world and helped our war effort enormously.  They were almost sued out of existence and if you “google” them today, you will come up with names of attorneys!  They are still under attack!

I predict that soon, the lawyers will have another windfall.  As soon as they figure out that the food industry and their introduction of hormones is causing the obesity epidemic there will be a flurry of “class action” lawsuits against them.
